The Industry-Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) of the college was a dedicated cell to promote close interaction between industry and the departments of the institute. It facilitated consultancy, sponsored R&D projects, and industrial and academic training not prescribed in the syllabus, in addition to industrial exhibitions and interaction meets.
Its initial focus was industry in and around Karnataka, later expanding across India and abroad. Industries and technical institutions have a strong mutuality of interest, which forms the basis of partnership between them.
Objectives of the IIP Cell
- Arrange industrial training for students, identify student project work in industries, and encourage Industry Study Tour Programmes (ISTP) and placement.
- Interact with R&D organisations for joint research involving faculty, scientists, students and research scholars.
- Faculty exchanges — professionals from industry as visiting or adjunct faculty, and deputation of faculty to industry.
- Curriculum development with industry experts, plus soft-skills and personality development workshops.
- Guest lectures by eminent academics and industrialists at regular intervals.
- Technical festivals, open houses and student design competitions.
- Library and information services to industry for better industry–institute synergy.
